Meet Our Staff

Scott Spector, M.D. is the Founder and Medical Director of Spector Eye Care. Dr. Spector is a Board Certified and Fellowship trained Ophthalmologist who specializes in Cataract & Refractive Surgery as well as the medical, laser and surgical treatment of Glaucoma. For 30 years Dr. Spector has been Fairfield County’s leading ophthalmologist offering the best quality care to his patients by providing them with the most advanced technology, service and products.

Judith Elson, O.D. is a Connecticut Optometrist who serves as the Clinical Director for our staff and oversees practice operations for the technical staff. She earned her Doctorate in Optometry from New England College of Optometry in 1986, then completed a Fellowship in Primary Eye Care at the New England College of Optometry, as well. She has certification to use ocular medications, both diagnostic and therapeutic. In addition, she has advanced certification in Glaucoma.

Mary Beth Schanz, O.D. is a Clinical Optometrist at Spector Eye Care. In addition, she serves as an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Optometry at the SUNY-College of Optometry. Dr. Schanz received her Doctorate in Optometry, with Honors, from the State University of New York-College of Optometry and completed her Residency in Low Vision at the West Haven VA Medical Center. She is trained to identify and manage a wide variety of eye conditions and eye diseases as well as to provide contact lens services and work in the care and management of refractive surgery patients.
